This is Four Corners Monument, and it’s the only point in the United States shared by four states: Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. It’s about 4 hours from Albuquerque, New Mexico, but otherwise in the middle of nowhere, so you usually have to go quite out of your way to visit. Entry is $8 per person, and the site is located on tribal land managed by the Navajo Nation. People come from all parts of the country to line up for photos and videos at the common corner, sometimes straddling all four borders. However, you’re only supposed to take 3 photos to keep the line moving. At one point, there was some controversy when reports claimed that the monument was 2.5 miles west of its intended location. Later, it was clarified that the monument is actually about 1,800 feet east of where it was originally planned. However, because one of the original land surveys was accepted, the borders at the monument are considered legally binding. When you visit, be sure to grab some lemonade and fry bread from one of the vendors.
