Just a little slice of real life as we celebrated my oldest’s 7th yesterday. Haley had a harder time understanding it wasn’t her birthday when it came to the cake and candles. Spencer had his own moment earlier with the presents only being for Cassidy. Even with those little hiccups, it was such a sweet, simple day. At this point, I just know it’s part of the deal. Birthdays—like holidays or any big event—are a lot for kids. Honestly, they’re a lot for adults too. The emotions run high, there’s so much excitement, and sometimes it all just bubbles over. With Christmas around the corner, I’m already bracing myself. There will probably be meltdowns, some sibling bickering, and tears over something completely random (because, of course). But here’s the thing—it doesn’t have to be perfect to be magical. The magic isn’t in everything going right; it’s in the little moments that stick, even when the day is a bit of a mess. And yes, kids are little a-holes sometimes, but they’re our a-holes. So here’s to a Christmas full of love, laughter, chaos, and memories. Perfectly imperfect as it should be. . #momadvice #RealLifeParenting #PerfectlyImperfect #MomLifeUnfiltered #ParentingIsHard #MotherhoodMoments #KidsAreWild #HolidayChaos #BigFeelingsLittlePeople #ParentingWithHumor #MagicInTheMess #PerfectlyImperfectChristmas #MomLifeTruths #ParentingUnplugged #MakingMemories #RaisingHumans #HolidayParenting #MessyButMagical #ParentLifeRealTalk #honestparenting

Ever notice how some co-parents go MIA, then suddenly reappear during the holidays—almost like magic? ✨ They’re seeking attention, impressing a new partner, or trying to fit a narrative they’ve created. You’ll get texts about holiday visits, school performances, or even shoe sizes. Stick to the custody order, stay calm, and avoid reacting emotionally. They want drama—don’t give it to them! If you’re new here, I’m Bridget, a custody specialist and legal strategist helping you navigate difficult co-parenting and the family court system. 💼 Remember: consistency and composure are key. Drop a comment if you’ve dealt with a sudden holiday reappearance and share how you kept your cool! I’d say we do plenty. But for real. Remind yourself this holiday season how lucky they are to have you. And how about you be proud of all that you are capable and able to do for them. Take that in. And be proud of your efforts. This parenting gig isn’t easy. Now do me a favorite and tag 3 of your favorite parenting friends to remind them how awesome they are. 🌙 Seasonal festivities often bring changes to your child’s sleep routine. New places, faces, and excitement may all make it harder for little ones to wind down. Here’s how you can help them get their rest: 💤 When spending the night away from home, bring familiar bedtime objects, like a favorite book, a (nonweighted) sleep sack, or a sound machine. 😴 Stick to your child’s comforting nightly routine, using the 80/20 rule—mostly consistent with a bit of flexibility. Hands-on, sparkly, and oh-so-fun—this DIY winter activity is a must-try! ☃️✨ Say hello to Snowman Slime! ❄️Glittery, squishy, and shapable, it strengthens toddlers’ and grade-schoolers’ hand muscles and encourages hours of creative sensory fun. 🎄To make it, you’ll just need 2 cups of silver glitter glue and 1 to 2 cups of liquid starch (like Sta-Flo). 1️⃣ For a chilly touch, refrigerate the ingredients for an hour before making slime. 2️⃣ Pour glue into a large bowl. 3️⃣ Ask your child to stir as you slowly add liquid starch until the mixture reaches a stretchy, oozy consistency. If it’s sticky, add a drop of liquid starch and knead it into the mixture. 4️⃣ Let your child shape the slime with cookie cutters. Help cut eyes, a nose, a mouth, a hat, and arms from craft foam or construction paper for your little one to place on their snowman ⛄ Save this post and follow Lovevery for more engaging activities! ❄️✨ #HolidayFun #Lovevery #LoveveryHoliday #SensoryPlay #DIYSnowSlime #DIYSlime #SlimeActivity #ToddlerActivity #ParentHack #Parenting #Parenthood #ParentTip #HolidayDIY #HolidayParenting #ToddlerDIY #ActivityIdeas

Should You Tell Your Kids About Santa Claus? 🎅🤔 As a child psychiatrist and parenting coach, I often get asked: “Is it okay to let my kids believe in Santa?” The short answer? It depends on your family values and what feels right for you. Here are some things to consider when deciding how to approach the Santa story: 1️⃣ Imaginative Play is Healthy
Believing in Santa can be a magical part of childhood, fostering creativity, wonder, and imaginative thinking. For most kids, discovering the truth about Santa doesn’t lead to lasting disappointment—it’s often seen as a rite of passage. 2️⃣ Balance Magic with Honesty
If your child starts questioning Santa, you can gauge their readiness for the truth by asking, “What do you think?” This allows them to process at their own pace. If they’re ready, you can explain Santa as a symbol of generosity, kindness, and the magic of giving. 3️⃣ Respect Your Child’s Emotional Needs
Every child is different. Some might embrace the magic, while others might feel uneasy about the idea. Pay attention to how your child reacts, and adapt your approach to their feelings and developmental stage. 4️⃣ Focus on the Spirit of the Season
Regardless of Santa, you can teach kids that the holidays are about love, family, and giving. Make these values the centerpiece of your celebrations so that the magic of the season goes beyond any one figure. ✨ Reminder: There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Whether you embrace Santa or take a different approach, what matters most is the love and intention you bring to your family’s traditions. What’s your take on the Santa debate?
