7 THINGS I LET GO OF AS A NEW MOM TO KEEP MY PEACE (and my sanity… mostly): 1. Being “on top” of everything. Newsflash: no one is handing out awards for most organized diaper station or cleanest kitchen. Let it go and focus on cuddles, not clutter. 2. Expecting to bounce back. Physically, emotionally, mentally—early postpartum is all about survival. Thriving comes later, mama. Give yourself grace and lean into the chaos. 3. The idea of “Instagram-worthy” parenting. Your baby doesn’t care if you’re in pajamas and yesterday’s messy bun—they care about YOU. The real you, not the curated version. 4. Answering every message or call. I’m not a call center, Karen. If I don’t respond, assume I’m trapped under a pile of burp cloths or stealing 5 minutes of sleep. Keep texting, though—I still love you. 5. Perfect meals. Some days it’s a gourmet dinner, and other days it’s frozen waffles at 2 p.m. while breastfeeding. Both are valid. 6. Being a people-pleaser. This is the era of boundaries, babe. If it’s not good for me or my baby, it’s a no. Full stop. 7. Looking “cute.” Pajamas, oversized tees, and the same pair of leggings for days = the mom uniform. Bonus: fewer outfit changes means less laundry! 💛 Early postpartum is messy, raw, and full of love. Let go of the pressure to be perfect—you’re already the best mom your baby could ever want.
