This might seem silly but lots of hospitals have different wings and policies for arrival of a laboring patient- know where you should go, where your partner should park, and also find out about paperwork needed beforehand. 2. Is there usually a wait for anesthesia? Some hospitals have a large anesthesia team, some don’t- which really makes a different when you’re 6cm. 3. Are labor support items available? Having a peanut ball, birthing ball, etc. is really important for labor. 4. Are you a Baby Friendly designated hospital? A Baby Friendly hospital places emphasis on breastfeeding success, so they promote skin-to-skin, 24/7 rooming in with baby, and more lactation support services, among other things. 5. What postpartum & baby care items are provided? I’ve recently learned that postpartum essentials like pads and baby items like diapers & wipes are not provided by every hospital (😑) which is VERY important to know when packing your hospital bag!
