Composting and reducing food waste is one of the biggest climate actions an individual can take! 🌍🫶🏼 EPA estimates that more food reaches landfills than any other single material in our everyday trash (24% of municipal solid waste), where it emits a powerful greenhouse gas called methane. Composting not only recycles kitchen scraps but also reduces methane production by promoting aerobic decomposition. It’s a simple yet impactful step we can all take to curb food waste and fight climate change. ♻️ 💚 I have tried a few different methods of composting! Including vermicomposting (indoor and outdoor), using a composting tumbler and electric composter. -Tumbler: This was not my favorite. I was never able to get a good, balanced compost. -Electric composter: I used this for a short period to supplement composting in the winter. It wasn’t my favorite because of the noise, energy usage and overall costs. -Vermicomposting. This has been my favorite method by far! While I originally found it daunting, I have learned to love it. I vermicompost both indoor and outdoor. Outdoors, I use my Subpod, which is an in-ground compost bin and worm farm that I put directly into my garden. Indoors, I use @Worm Bucket, which can fit under your kitchen sink and provides everything you need to get started. Since the bucket is on the smaller side, I would only recommend this if you live in a single person house hold or to supplement your composting 🪱 code: Sabrina List of things you can and can’t post in most composters!
