To prepare your chickpeas for making hummus, start by soaking 1 pound of chickpeas (garbanzo beans) overnight with a teaspoon of baking soda. Soaking the beans activates enzymes that aid in digestion and reduces cooking time. The baking soda helps break down proteins in the beans, making them softer and more absorbent. The next day, wash and boil the chickpeas until they form a high foamy peak. Strain the first boil to remove unwanted particles that can be difficult for the body to digest. Continue boiling the chickpeas until they are overcooked and resemble mashed potatoes. Cool the chickpeas and store them in the refrigerator or freezer. If freezing for later use, reduce the cooking time, wash the beans, remove excess liquid, and store in a Ziploc bag. RECIPE ⬇️ Last minute Christmas dip! If you are looking to change up your hummus game, try swapping in red kidney beans . 🫘 Not only does it taste delicious 🤤, but it is a pretty pink color too.  It will liven up your summer table in both looks and taste . Give this one a try  🌱Red Kidney bean 🫘 hummus🌱 2 boxes kidney beans  2 garlic cloves  1/4 cup tahini Juice of 1 Lime  1/2 teaspoon salt 1 to 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil 1 ice cube Drain and rinse the kidney beans.  Add the beans, 🫘 garlic 🧄, tahini , salt and lime to a food processor. Blend for about 1 to 2 minutes until smooth.  With the food processor running slowly add the oil thru the top.
