Dear American Kennel Club, Mayor Bass and LA Convention Center, We recently came across this disturbing post featuring a breeder who seemed overly enthusiastic that their new litter of “whamster” puppies was still alive. I’m sure you’re just as disturbed by this as we are. We have so far found over 70 Frenchie breeding accounts that appear to be connected to this ONLY FRENCHIES expo series scheduled to next happen at the @laconventioncenter on 1/11. There appears to be a significant network of “breeders” who are prioritizing profit over the welfare of living, sentient beings, forcing them to breed continuously for the highest bidders. This exploitation raises serious ethical questions we need you all to answer. With the current animal crisis and breeder moratorium enacted in Los Angeles to combat breeding, I’m sure you can imagine how disappointed and disgusted we are to learn of this irresponsible and tone def event on the schedule. If the AKC aims to maintain its legitimacy in the animal community, we strongly urge both you and Mayor Bass to take immediate action against these operations. Including cancelling this event. If this event does take place- we, the community, will enact our legal right to see proof that all breeders in attendance possess the necessary permits, veterinary documentation, and adherence to health guidelines. The potential for significant fines and legal repercussions should motivate a thorough review of these practices.
