Vice President JD Vance on Tuesday swore into the Senate his successor, Jon Husted (R-OH), and Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s successor, Ashley Moody (R-FL). The swearing-in brings the chamber back to full membership with 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats and two independents who caucus with Democrats: Sens. Bernie Sanders (VT) and Angus King (ME). Sen. Husted, the former Ohio lieutenant governor, and Sen. Moody, the former Florida attorney general, will serve in the upper chamber until special elections are held in November 2026.
