The Word Became Flesh—So What Does That Mean for Scripture and how we read the Bible? The moment someone says, “The Bible clearly says…” I know we’ve entered the realm of personal agenda. If the Bible were truly “clear,” we wouldn’t have thousands of denominations or scholars dedicating lifetimes to its complexities. Too often, people use scripture to defend their views rather than seek truth. Jesus isn’t the Bible made flesh—He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14). And when John wrote that, the New Testament didn’t even exist yet. He wasn’t referring to a book but to Logos—the divine logic, the eternal expression of God. But that doesn’t mean we toss out the Bible. It is sacred, inspired, and authoritative—but Jesus is the ultimate revelation. The Bible leads us to Him, but if our interpretation doesn’t reflect His love, mercy, and justice, we’re reading it wrong. Instead of asking, “What does the Bible say?” we should ask, “Does this look like Jesus?” Because if it doesn’t, it’s just noise.
