DAY 8 of 87 : Kannur’s Kerala Folklore Academy finding a lot of commonalities between this place and LA. finding that the tensions drawing on both lands are so ridiculous, so non-human, meant to keep us fighting each other and in a state of panic and survival. today i visited to Kerala Folklore Academy and the reminders of indigenous knowledge are ever-present. this too was a land manned by people who knew far more than the current population. to this day, they cater to the land. i think what i find really special about Kerala is that connection can be so strongly felt. there is no fear around the taboo, in fact, the taboo is worshipped. but this as with much other indigenous knowledge is being forgotten by the people. this is all reversible. this is all common sense to us, if we take the opportunity to keep our ears open. i am glad to see perserverance of community, both in Kerala and in LA this week. a remembrance for everything larger than us. im proud of so many friends and groups back in LA for the heart and strength they’ve shown. we will always rebuild, we are resiliant in this way. but sending peace of mind, safety, and rest in the meantime.
