While it may not be often-discussed, #tristatearea's are actually quite common in the #US, with nearly 50 million #Americans living in one. This is largely because #NewYorkCity, #America's largest #city, forms a tristate with #Connecticut and #NewJersey, which right away is 20 million people. #Chicago, our 3rd largest city with another 11 million people in its metro, extends into Northwest #Indiana and Southeast #Wisconsin, while the nation's #capital city, #Washington #DC, anchors the #DMV, or DC #Maryland and #Virginia. No, DC isn’t a state, but the DMV now includes Jefferson County, #WestVirginia, which definitely counts. #Philadelphia #Pennsylvania, the nations 6th largest city/metro, anchors the #DelawareValley metro, which includes #SouthJersey and Northern #Delaware (over half of the state). Mid-sized tri-state areas include #Cincinnati, #Ohio, whose metro extends into #Kentucky and #Indiana, and #Memphis, #Tennessee, extending into #Arkansas and #Mississippi. Some claim #Pittsburgh #PA and #Chattanooga #TN count as well, but I’m more skeptical of those. #greenscreen Another beautiful #countymap, this time showing every #US #County larger than #RhodeIsland, #America's smallest state. #RI, perhaps most famous for #FamilyGuy, is only 1,224 square miles when you count its water area, 1,096 square miles without it (so about the size of #Luxembourg), and therefore is smaller than over 600 #counties. Some states, like #Wyoming and #Arizona, ONLY have counties bigger than #LilRhody, while most western states come quite close, particularly #Nevada, #NewMexico, #Montana, and #California. #Alaska would be if not for Skagway and the #BBB (bristol bay borough), while even #Hawaii has the big island as a larger county. #greenscreen Once again, #Ohio 🔛🔝!!! If you look at the #regions of the #USA, you’ll notice they’re so named based on their location FROM Ohio 😌😉 For example, the #Northeast is entirely Northeast of most of Ohio. The #West is very much to its west, while the #south is almost wholly South of Ohio. Lastly, the #Midwest, the region Ohio is included in, is to the middle and west of Ohio.
