The Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) are separate entities. Space-A Flight Eligibility: ✅ Retirees & Medically Retired (those who went through the Medical Evaluation Board [MEB] and received TDRL/PDRL) are considered retired and can fly: • [CONUS to CONUS] • [OCONUS to OCONUS] • [CONUS to OCONUS / OCONUS to CONUS] 📌 CONUS = Contiguous U.S. (48 states) 📌 OCONUS = Outside the Contiguous U.S. ✅ Disabled Veterans (100% P&T service-connected) can fly: • Within the CONUS • Between CONUS & Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa • Within Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands Important: VA issued ID cards for 100% P&T do not equate to retirement status under Space-A rules. They are separate but a veteran can be issued both if they qualify for both circumstances.
