New Jersey State Police are seeking the public's assistance after a 33-year-old man was fatally struck by multiple vehicles in a hit-and-run on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County on Friday, Feb. 14th. The incident occurred just before 6pm when Jose Cerda-Estevez, of Plainfield, exited a moving Honda Pilot traveling southbound in the express lanes near milepost 112.8, authorities said. Cerda-Estevez was then hit by several unidentified vehicles, none of which stopped at the scene. He was pronounced dead as a result of the crash. State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident-or has information about what happened before or after-to come forward. A high school teacher at Middletown North + the girls basketball coach has been charged with second-degree sexual assault & second-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Justin McGhee, a 35 year old from Ocean Township was arrested on Tuesday and taken to #MonmouthCounty jail. He has been placed on administrative leave by the high school. Investigations revealed that the alleged activity began late last year and determined that the basketball coach + teacher engaged with the student who was under age. A Red Bank resident was assaulted in his backyard on February 4th by an unknown man who struck him in the head with a metal object, poured gasoline on him, and threatened him with a gun before fleeing. The victim, a Hispanic male living on Bank Street, was found at Riverview Medical Center with severe head injuries and gasoline-soaked clothes. He told police the suspect was a tall, muscular Hispanic male, possibly from El Salvador, wearing a black shirt. Two days later, police received a tip that the suspect was near 75 Bank Street. Officers located a man matching the description, who initially provided false identification. After further investigation, he was identified as 23-year-old Jose Hernandez-Ruano, a Bank Street resident from El Salvador. Hernandez-Ruano was arrested and charged with: - aggravated assault - weapon possession - hindering apprehension - providing false identification He has been taken to Monmouth County Jail as the investigation continues. Authorities say that on December 12, 2024, the 27-year-old pointed a laser at the aircraft on three separate occasions. An act that is highly illegal and very dangerous. A Facebook post by a small business owner has fueled a local controversy in #AsburyParkNJ. The Facebook post which read: "Falling asleep lately to the sound of our president arguing with reporters Waking up and going on Facebook for the liberal tears Life is good " And "Any houses up for sale yet in Neptune/Asbury yet or is that too soon?" These comments were made on the personal account of the owner of Amici gelato Café & many #locals have now pledged to no longer support the business due to the offensive comments. Neptune Township has agreed to a deal to redevelop the headliner nightclub and Sunset Riverfront Bar and Restaurant on Rt 35. The new development will have a 100 room hotel, two residential buildings, retail space and restaurants. A multilevel parking garage will also be built that will consist of approximately 260 parking spaces + an additional 6K sqft of retail space with a rooftop bar! The redevelopment titled "waterways" will include public access to waterfront, a public promenade, 10 public restrooms + a boardwalk with a fishing pier! In the small town of #OceanGroveNJ a local controversy has erupted over an idea of turning 300 parking spots into "permit only" spots. By holding the ball in the air and forcing them to have to jump their highest, this gets them to worry about the jump before the shot. These 3 Ball Handling Drills not only improved my Hand-Eye Coordination but the ability to maintain and get comfortable in this low stance really opening up the hips making them more flexible and strong. It also allowed me to handle the basketball with a ton of distractions, interference and chaos going on while having the tennis ball be tossed in a controlled motion but aggressively snatch the ball out of the air without it affecting my dribble beat, rhythm or height!
