I wasn’t supposed to be here. Statistically, I shouldn’t have made it this far. I was born addicted to crank and cycled through five foster homes before I was even three months old. By the time I was almost four, my biological father adopted me. We lived in poverty, and my childhood was marked by challenges no child should have to endure: physical and sexual abuse, homelessness, and the overwhelming feeling of being unseen and unheard. From second to eighth grade, we lived in a makeshift structure in the woods. No running water. No electricity. No floors—just dirt beneath me and mice sharing my sleeping bag. I went to school hungry, dirty, and exhausted. Teachers stocked snack drawers just for me, and my clothes were hand-me-downs from their own kids. Life had every opportunity to break me. But it didn’t. Instead, I chose growth. I refused to let my circumstances define me. I asked myself, “How can I turn this pain into purpose? How can I use my story to connect, uplift, and inspire others?” And here I am. Proof that your past doesn’t dictate your future—your decisions do. It’s not about where you start; it’s about where you choose to go. So, to anyone feeling stuck, hopeless, or defeated: You’re not alone. You can rewrite your story. 💡 “We don’t determine our destiny by chance; we determine it by choice.” If this speaks to you, share it with someone who might need a little hope today. You never know whose life you might impact. Let today be the start of something new.
