Travel day mistake! We had a 5 am wake up to travel from Nashville TN to fly to Munich Germany to visit the European Christmas markets! We had a lay over in Charlotte, NC where Derek booked a suite with @MinuteSuites because he had a @Zoom meeting he could nit reschedule. We were greeted with Lindt Chocolate Santas for St Nicholas Day and we picked up our rental from @SIXT car rentals and headed to oir hotel. And this is where we realized the mistake I made. Neuschwanstein Castle 🏰 Day trip from Munich Germany- this visit has been a highlight of our visit to Germany! You have to take a guided tour so make sure you purchase tickets ahead of time. You can choose to take a Carriage ride 🐴 Bus 🚌 or Walk 🥾 To the castle. Buses don’t run if there is any snow or ice and the carriage only takes cash so keep that in mind! We chose to walk mostly bc of time and it really wasn’t bad at all! It’s a beautiful walk up and the kids enjoyed throwing snowballs on the way down. There is no video or pictures allowed inside and Mary’s bridge is closed if there’s any snow or precipitation. So keep both of those things in mind when you visit. The town of Schwangau, Germany is super cute and you could really enjoy an entire day visiting the castle and walking around. Sometimes it’s the little things that bring so much joy and finding a @HARIBO gummy bears store and a @Brandy Melville in Munich was definitely the highlight of this day for Audrey, Owen and Everett! Ava arrived that morning and fought jet lag the entire day 😴 We visited Nymphenburg Palace. Kids and young adults up to 26 are free so it only cost admission for Derek and I! We did the audio tour which was great except the package tour itself is really short/small so if you’re limited on time in Munich this is a tour I’d skip if visiting in winter. I believe the summer tour might be more worth it since you’ll also visit the huge gardens area. We ate lunch at @HANS IM GLÜCK Burgergrill&Bar and dinner at La Burrita both of which totally hit the spot for our American bellies 😋 Our night ended with giant snowflakes ❄️ falling! It was a great, pretty chill day as Ava got acclimated to a new time zone.
