#WearRedDay is an initiative by the @americanheart to raise awareness about heart health, cardiovascular disease, and stroke, especially for women’s heart health 🫀 As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and a first time mom, this is an initiative that I will ALWAYS support 🩺 Here are some heart statistics to be aware of: 🫀 from the 2025 AHA Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Update: in 2022, there were 941,652 cardiovascular disease (CVD) related deaths in the U.S., making heart disease the leading cause of death, especially for women’s 🫀 nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure and a large portion have diabetes or prediabetes, both major contributors to cardiovascular disease 🫀 obesity remains a major issue, particularly among young people, with around 40% of children in the U.S. having an unhealthy weight 🫀 while overall CVD death rates have slightly decreased, kidney disease death rates have increased by 1.5% 🫀 certain racial groups, like non-Hispanic Black individuals, experience a higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease 🫀 each year, nearly 4,600 infants experience cardiac arrest out of the hospital 🫀 each year, more than 23,000 children experience cardiac arrest 🫀 congenital heart disease (CHD) are the most common birth defect, affecting 1 in 100 babies, with no cure and requiring lifelong care Please visit the @American Heart website on how to spread awareness and let’s continue to help our friends, family, and loved ones continue to fight against heart disease 🥊
