Sticky candies may be a treat for your taste buds, but they’re a nightmare for your teeth! Here’s why: 1. They Stick Around (Literally!) Sticky candies cling to your teeth longer than other sweets. This gives bacteria in your mouth more time to feed on the sugar and produce acids that weaken enamel, increasing the risk of cavities. 2. Difficult to Remove Even with good brushing and flossing habits, sticky candies can get lodged in hard-to-reach places. They’re especially tough on teeth with deep grooves or dental work like crowns or fillings. 3. Encourage Tooth Decay The high sugar content in sticky candies provides the perfect environment for harmful bacteria to thrive. Combined with the time they linger on your teeth, this creates a recipe for decay. Better Alternatives: • Opt for chocolates, which are easier to rinse away with water. • Choose sugar-free gum or candies sweetened with xylitol, which can actually help prevent cavities. This beautiful patient had a front crown that really stood out along with unhealthy gum tissue that was so dark and bled all the time. She had crown lengthening done to create healthy gum tissue in this area then we replaced her crown. Notice how natural her new crown looks and how well it blends in with the rest of her teeth. We got her picture ready just in time for her wedding. Here's the BTS of permanently cementing in the crown. This is done only after the patient has seen the tooth in their mouth and has given permission to permanently cement it in. Love these results. Making one front tooth look natural and a patient's mouth is one of the hardest things to do in cosmetic dentistry. That's why you see so many cases where a front tooth doesn't match, like the one in this video. This patient wanted to have a smile that blended in and didn't attract so much attention. We removed her existing crown that was way too white and replaced it with a crown that blended it in to the adjacent teeth. Here is the behind the scenes of permanently cementing one front crown. This fabulous patient didn't like the chip in her front tooth. She didn't like how her lateral incisors (the teeth next to the 2 front teeth) were small and rotated. She was so excited to get veneers. You can see we enhanced the overall color, corrected the chip, made the teeth more proportional in shape and size. And the best part? Over the holidays nobody was able to tell she had her teeth done. She just looked and felt like a better, more enhanced version of herself!
