Life lately has been a been such a vibe! I spent the majority of last year developing healthier habits with food, weekly routine, my comeback journey with fitness as I navigate body dysmorphia and carving out intentional time learning new skills and spending quality time with my loved ones. So we’re riding the good high energy momentum and diving head first into Dry January, a full month of no alcohol! This is my 2nd year of participating and I always notice those little positive influences on my mental health! Here are a few ways to stay on track this month… 1. Having a support system is crucial so surround yourself with loved ones who are aligned with your goals and going to hold you accountable! There’s also a lot of great helpful resources like @niaaanews Rethinking Drinking website RethinkingDrinking.niaaa.nih.gov 2. Plan for success and recognize that we can still have fun without drinking and explore alternatives. That can look like stocking the fridge with healthier choices or instead of going out for drinks, go for tea, coffee, smoothies, acai bowls, etc. 3. Prioritize self care: Focus on activities that nourish your mind and body…daily movement, getting active, fueling body with nutrient dense foods, practicing mindfulness, etc 4. Track your journey as the month progresses. Pay attention to how you feel. Do you have more energy? Are you feeling more relaxed? getting better sleep? Etc 5. Celebrate the WINS: Acknowledge and celebrate your accomplishments throughout the month…there’s so much power in that! Remember yall, Dry January isn’t about depriving yourself! It's an opportunity to tap into new habits, rediscover your energy, and elevate your overall well-being by focusing on the small positive shifts you’re creating along the way. So, take it one day at a time, stay kind to yourself, and enjoy the incredible benefits! We got this fam! *If you or someone you know is having a hard time with alcohol and need professional help, visit AlcoholTreatment.niaaa.nih.gov
