Sweetie (ID: 21684) is available for adoption in a foster home! A volunteer writes: If ever a dog earned her name, and her Good Dog scarf, it's Sweetie! She sits so quietly in her kennel, and as I was leashing her a staffer walked by exclaiming, "You will love her, she's awesome". And I do, and she is! Not only is she great with people, having lived all her life with the same family which included 3 young children, she's great with other dogs, and earned the distinction of PLAYGROUP GREETER DOG. We're told she's not a fan of cats, and OK, no one is perfect. Surrendered as her family moved where she isn't welcome, Sweetie comes with an outstanding resume. She doesn't guard her things, is friendly to all, gentle and respectful of young kids, enjoys getting a bath, is well behaved when left home alone, is housetrained, and likes to be in the same room with her person. Sweetie was the last walk of my shift so it's always such a bonus to walk a dog who's great on leash, gives stand up hugs, and is a total wiggle butt when greeting staff she knows. We played tug, we hugged, we kissed, we hung out. She's an absolute gem, a proven family dog, a delight in every way. She can be found on nycacc.app or our mobile app "ACC of NYC" by searching for her name or ID: 209822 My foster writes: Despite her name, Queenie doesn't want a lot of fancy things to make her happy -- she's perfectly content with a warm bed, some wet food, and your time and attention for playing with cat wands and other toys. Maybe a lap to sit on once a while, but really, that's not too much to ask. Queenie is affectionate and playful. Even when she first arrived in our home, we were able to tempt her out of hiding by waving a cat wand, which she immediately leapt at! She enjoys playtime, but is also okay amusing herself with little mouse toys. She's curious at times, and part of her daily routine includes looking out the window and making sure all the squirrels and birds are behaving themselves. She's very smart and considerate as well; she never wakes us up during the pre-dawn hours for breakfast, but as soon as we walk into the kitchen for our coffee, she would sit primly next to her bowl so that we would remember that she needs her breakfast too. She's okay with other cats, but I think Queenie will prefer to be an only cat if possible. #nycacc #boroughbred #sheltercat #adoptablecat

If she could have her way, it would be to lay across your lap on a couch or bed, while she snores (yes, that's right, she has an adorable snore). Wherever you go, Thelma is sure to follow, making sure that she is not missing out. She loves to be by her person's side, but really she loves all people and will be happy by anyone's side. Thelma has yet to find a lap she doesn't enjoy laying on. In between her cuddling sessions she loves to play with her toys, especially her treat dispensing toys. She is very tolerant of letting me eat my own food and will not whine or try to steal food, she is very respectful. Thelma loves going into her crate on her own terms but when I leave the apartment she prefers to not be locked in the crate and she is well distracted with a licky mat. She has not destroyed any furniture or ingested inanimate objects, on the camera I often find her snoozing on the couch while I am away. Thelma is an absolute sweetheart and would like nothing more than to be your new best friend! #nycacc #boroughbred #shelterdog #adoptabledog

Speckles is always ready to head out to the back yard and do his favorite things which are to play with his chosen toy and to do a few zoomies around the yard. Speckles' upbeat attitude never falters. He is extremely good natured and fun. Although play is Speckles' main pastime, he regularly checks in with me and is always ready for a belly rub even when juggling a toy. I enjoyed walking her around the park. She is comfortable around adults and children. A number of people greeted her during our outing and she enjoyed the attention she received. She also listens to us and seems to have good leash manners.
