February 6th is National Optimist Day! This day focuses on building and sustaining a positive future and, of course, encourages people to keep optimistic even in troubling times. For today, Alex letterpress printed a very optimistic electrotype that we have in the print shop at the Sacramento History Museum. This electrotype (copy) was made sometime in the 1930-40s and depicts a man with a stern face and his hand on his chin with large text reading “DON’T Hesitate” to the side. This cut has been previously trimmed, not by our museum, to fit better for a printing project. This was printed with pink rubber base ink using our Washington hand press.
