oracy hashtag performance

#Oracy emphasizes the importance of effective communication skills, including speaking, listening, and discussion. It fosters confidence, enhances academic performance, promotes collaboration, and nurtures critical thinking in various educational settings.
To all the teachers I offended this past year—I meant it with love and a challenge to do better. Let’s make 2025 the year we step up our student engagement and language supports, so I don’t have to be that nagging old lady. 😉 #duallanguageteacherproblems #duallanguage #newduallanguageteacher #biliteracy #oracy #orallanguage #newduallanguageteacher #maestrabilingüe
Dual language teachers, stop translating everything! 🚫 Translating creates dependency and is a short term Instead: ✅focus on strategies that actually build biliteracy ✅ Purposeful bridging ✅ Oracy activities ✅ El dictado ✅ Explicit word study. When you stop translating and start teaching intentionally, your students will truly engage in both languages. 💡 Looking to improve your biliteracy practices? I can help! #DualLanguageTeacher #Biliteracy #BilingualEducation #Oracy #DualLanguageClassroom #MaestraBilingüe #ScienceOfBiliteracy #DualLanguageTips #BiliteracyStrategies
This isn’t some magical moment—it’s what’s supposed to happen with the right supports and routines. It’s easier than you think:
✅ Build intentional routines.
✅ Incorporate explicit oracy practice.
✅ Provide opportunities to use academic vocabulary in meaningful ways.
✅ Watch their confidence grow. If you need help building these routines and supports, you’re in the right place… well kinda (until Tiktok goes away) 🫠 #duallanguage #duallanguageteacher #duallanguageteacherproblems #maestrabilingüe #biliteracy #oracy #spanishteacher #firstgrade #palantemember #duallanguageteacherproblems #newduallanguageteacher
If your students don’t have anything to say, how can we expect them to have anything to write? 🤔 Oracy isn’t just about talking; it’s the explicit instruction of vocabulary, dialogue and sentence structure and is the foundation for biliteracy. When students engage in purposeful conversations, they:
✏️ Organize their thoughts.
✏️ Hear and model complete sentences.
✏️ Build vocabulary and ideas they can use in their writing. If writing feels like pulling teeth in your classroom, the solution might not be more writing. It’s more talking. Inside the Pa'Lante Membership, I share simple oracy-building activities that will get your students talking and writing in ways that don’t require much prep and will stick. 💬 Ready to help your students find their voice and strengthen their biliteracy skills? Head to IG, Follow and drop a “Pa'Lante” and I’ll send you the details! #duallanguage #palantemember #maestrabilingüe #duallanguageteacher #multilingualstudents #oracy #orallanguage #studentwriting #studentengagement
It’s a natural feeling to want to translate to your students but when over used, can do more harm than good. 🚨We need to fight the urge… Here’s the thing:
🚫 Translating creates dependency.
🚫 Translating doesn’t build oracy or biliteracy.
🚫 Translating wastes valuable instructional time because you have to say things twice! 🚫Translating gives students the green light to tune you out so they can wait for you to give Instead, focus on strategies that actually develop language:
✅ Purposeful bridging between languages.
✅ Engaging students in oracy activities to build confidence and fluency.
✅ Use strategies like el dictado to connect literacy in both languages. ✅Provide students with word banks, preview vocabulary, sentence stems, repetition, images Dual language instruction isn’t about saying the same thing twice—it’s about making language accessible so they can grow into biliterate humans. If you are finding it hard to fight the urge to translate, I can help🙌🏽 #duallanguageteacherproblems #duallanguageteacher #duallanguage #maestrabilingüe #marysolbilingual #biliteracy #orallanguage #oracy #scienceofbiliteracy
Dual language education has made improvement over the years—we’ve started advocating for biliteracy, embracing the 3 pillars of dual language, and understanding bilingual education. Yet so many things remain the same:
❌ Teachers are still searching for high-quality materials that actually work for biliteracy.
❌ Support for new dual language educators is still minimal—you're often left to figure it all out on your own.
❌ Practical and actionable training on bridging, oracy, and effective cross-linguistic strategies is still missing in most programs. If you’re a dual language teacher feeling unsupported or overwhelmed, you’re not alone. I’ve been there and I’ve created the tools and resources to help. 🛠️ Follow for ready-to-use biliteracy resources, actionable strategies, and the support that I never had when I was a young dual language educator 🌞📚 #duallanguage #duallanguageteacher #duallanguageteacherproblems #maestrabilingüe #biliteracy #oracy #spanishteacher #firstgrade #palantemember #duallanguageteacherproblems #newduallanguageteacher #duallanguageteacherproblems
Oral language is the foundation of biliteracy. If students aren’t speaking, thinking, and processing out loud, they’re missing critical opportunities to strengthen their reading and writing skills. 💬 Collaborative oracy activities—like structured turn-and-talks—give students the space to practice academic language in meaningful ways. 💬 These discussions build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence, which directly supports literacy in both languages. 💬 When students take the lead, they develop the skills to make deeper connections and transfer knowledge across languages. Stick with me on other platforms for ready-to-use biliteracy resources, actionable strategies, and the support you deserve as a dual language educator. 🌞📚 #duallanguage #duallanguageteacher #duallanguageteacherproblems #maestrabilingüe #biliteracy #oracy #spanishteacher #firstgrade #palantemember #duallanguageteacherproblems #newduallanguageteacher #duallanguageteacherproblems
