#micorazonmexica : a little de-colonized "Christmas" celebration, since we don't celebrate Christmas around here, but rather, Panquetzaliztli, the rebirth of Huitzilopochtli the Sun on the Winter Solstice! Buuuuuut - I love Christmas, and all the attendant decorations and togetherness with family and friends. So, my tree, nativity, and adornments are all Panquetzaliztli themed, with some added elements, like an altar to Huitzilopochtli, an amaranth figure of Huitzilopochtli which we bless with smoke of copal and eat before the dinner, a tiny fruit tree (not in the video) adorned with paper flags, since this is also the time we give thanks to the fruits that sustain us, and lots of moons and suns all around the house! Every year I perfect my Panquetzaliztli celebration.
