Why do our dolls take sooo long to make? I hope this video gives you a small glimpse into the answer! 🫣 Just because our dolls are “small”, doesn’t make the work quicker. Sometimes, making things miniature takes more time than a larger piece, because there is so little room for error. In a smaller space, there is less room to hide any mistakes or messy details. Besides that, there are so many tiny nooks and crannies to address. I also don’t show how many times something might have to be totally remade because it doesn’t meet my standards. My work is far from perfect, but I strive to think of all the details possible that will make each piece a hyperrealistic, one of a kind work of art that you will enjoy up close during play, and from afar on display. When I read the book, I was surprised to learn that there were so many more unique personalities, situations and settings that deepened the world of Wonderland for me. Wonderland can be seen as many different things: as a symbol of childhood, a dream, or even an hallucination. As someone living with schizophrenia, I always felt a special connection with the story. Especially because it creates this truly bizarre universe that nothing else can compare to. I think this helped me feel seen, and also inspired my creativity growing up.
