If you need some help with newborn tummy time, save this checklist! 🙌 Tummy time on the floor is recommended for full-term babies once their umbilical stump falls off. Wondering where to start? Pediatric physical therapist and Lovevery Expert, @dr.maralamani, shares her simple tummy-time checklist for these early months: ✅ Place your newborn’s forearms under their chest. This creates a natural incline and helps activate your baby’s back muscles, making it easier for them to lift their head and strengthen their neck. ✅ Keep their head higher than their hips, at first. Lay your baby, tummy down, on a sloped surface—like a nursing pillow, a triangular wedge, or your chest—with their head at the high end. This reduces the tendency for them to lift their legs and hips when using their back muscles. ✅ Encourage engagement with high-contrast playthings. Put black-and-white objects, like The Sensory Links, within your newborn’s limited range of vision—8 to 12 inches from their face. Note: Be sure to offer tummy time only when your baby is awake and supervised by an adult 💛 For more expert tips, head over to Lovevery.com! #TummyTime #BabyDevelopment #Lovevery #WakeWindow #BabyPlay #EarlyLearning #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #Newborn #NewbornActivity #TummyTimeTips #BabyDevelopment #PediatricPT #ParentingTips #ParentHelp #Parenthood

Wondering if your little one is close to taking their first steps? 👀 While there’s no surefire way to tell exactly when your little one will take their first steps, there are some exciting signs that it might be just around the corner! According to pediatric physical therapist and Lovevery expert @dr.maralamani, keep an eye out for these clues: ✅ Cruises or side steps along horizontal (couch) and vertical surfaces (wall). Expert Tip: If your little one isn’t yet cruising along a wall, try placing sticky notes at chest height along a wall to encourage side-stepping (with supervision). ✅ Stands independently for about 10 seconds. Expert Tip: Give your little one toys to hold in each hand, like the rattle balls from The Babbler Play Kit, to distract them while standing. ✅ Can easily pull up to stand and get back down. Expert Tip: It’s not uncommon for little ones to learn how to pull up to stand, but get stuck not knowing how to get down. Holding your hands at their hips and gently guiding their bottom down to touch the floor will teach them how to bend their knees (which is needed to get down safely!) #BabyWalking #FirstSteps #BabyDevelopment #Lovevery #EarlyLearning #EarlyChildhoodDevelopment #BabyDevelopment #PediatricPT #ParentingTips #ParentHelp #Parenthood

🔥A REAL HOT TOPIC🔥 As always mama, this post is meant to educate not create fear, so try these two proactive solutions to 👊🏼combat👊🏼 your baby’s reflux at home! Reflux sucks, truly, not only for your little one but for you as a parent. It can lead to some unexpected delays in your baby’s development if dismissed so let’s talk about what that could look like: When babies are in pain from reflux, they may avoid tummy time, which impacts their ability to build strength and coordination in their muscles. This can delay rolling, sitting, and other milestones. Reflux can also lead to tightness or asymmetry in the neck, hips, and trunk, which could result in torticollis or even “happy sitting” which is what we call a baby who doesn’t move out of sitting much! 🙋‍♀️Have more questions about reflux? Did your little one arrive early?🗓️ If you said yes, you might notice things like: 🚼 Low muscle tone 🚼 Difficulty lifting arms and legs during back play 🚼 Delayed gross motor skills 🚼 A tendency to arch But an earlier arrival doesn’t have to hold your baby back for good! Here are a few tips to help support your preemie’s development: 1️⃣ Use adjusted age to track milestone progress—it’s a more accurate measure for preemies. 2️⃣ Keep an eye out 👀 for behaviors like excessive arching, difficulty lifting arms and legs, or hypotonia. 3️⃣ Swaddling can be extra soothing for preemies—they’re catching up on “in-utero” growth outside the womb. ✨Tag a preemie mama in the comments! - #pediatricpt #preemiemom #kinactivekids #preemiebaby #babymilestones
