Making our way back to Virginia for the 3rd county in this series. This time we venture to the far western reaches of the state and make are way into Grayson County, Virginia. The great state of Kansas is introduced as my 10th state of this series! I make my way out right smack middle of the vast high plains of the United States where much of the land looks the same for as far as you can see or even remember when driving to this point. 📝 Today we are out in Wallace County, Kansas which is home to highest point in the state standing at 4,039 feet above sea level which is shockingly the 28th highest state point above states like Pennsylvania and Maryland. When you come to this high point you will quickly notice that there is very little prominence relative to the surrounding landscape and that is because the high plains are gently sloping pain that ever so slightly gains or loses elevation depending on which way your driving across the country. 👥 Just over a thousand people call this vast landscape home which is the second least in the state and is one the most empty counties in the whole country! 📐 Kansas is home to 105 counties and Wallace county sits as the 21st largest in terms of land area in the state with just over 913 square miles which is actually in the top 25% of the country.
