It’s easy to fall into the trap of being a creativity vampire. But magic happens when we let go of control and trust the process. I used to do the following things in my traditional teaching days, but now that I know it was sucking the creativity right out of the children! So I made changes and learned to say YES! I put my own discomfort aside and leaned in… ⚡️I said “dot dot not a lot” and didn’t let children explore with glue. ⚡️I made craft examples for the children to recreate. ⚡️I hated messy art tables. ⚡️I said no to so many things because it made me uncomfortable and I didn’t want to deal with the mess! ⚡️I focused on the final product of the craft project and not the process. ⚡️I cut pieces out for the children so it would look cute. ⚡️ I forced children to do craft projects. But honestly none of these things foster creativity, they all suck out the creativity. And I was a creativity vampire. But not anymore!!
