Ponche de huevo aka egg nog! Recipe from my bisabuela! When there was no chocolate in Cuba for hot chocolate, my great grandmother would make this for the kids during noche buena. Ponche de Navidad 6 cups milk 1 cup sugar 2 cinnamon sticks 1 tablespoon cornstarch 4 egg yolks 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Cinnamon for garnish 1. In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch and sugar. Add to a saucepan with milk, cinnamon sticks, and salt. Whisk and set to medium. In a bowl, add 4 egg yolks and whisk. 2. When the milk is hot to the touch, ladle and whisk into the egg yolks to temper. When you’ve added all of three milk, return the mixture to the saucepan and continue to cook for 3 more minutes and whisk. Strain ponche into a pitcher. Remove the cinnamon stick and add vanilla extract. Serve warm or chill on the fridge for at least 4 hours. Garnish with cinnamon powder.
