Replying to @Juliet Eaton RTO mandates are hitting Washington hard right now, as well as other states. Traffic was so much worse today due to Amazon's RTO. It was on the news! For employees who have a disability and want remote work, it can be harder to get than many employees anticipate. And most employees aren’t expecting to be questioned about their disability and aren’t expecting specifics questions being asked. Now, even if they won’t accommodate you, they must provide the interactive process and provide reasonable accommodation if that exists. And if they say working from home is “unreasonable” and being in the office is an “essential function,” they have to demonstrate how and why. I advise managers to be able to clearly state how and why in-person work is essential. Just saying it isn’t enough. This subject is hard. It can be stressful. But this is why my playlist on this subject covers this stuff. And aside from ADA, the PWFA also provides accommodation requirements for certain staff.
