Who else does a quiet time after their kids give up naps?? As a sahm/ homeschool mom I promise you it’s worth implementing. Having your child decompress for an hour in their room, learn independent play, being bored and forcing creativity is sooo good for them! It’s also so beneficial for YOU to have a break. We can’t entertain them every second of the day it’ll lead to burn out all around. This is how we implemented it around 3-4 years of age: - I make sure they have plenty of quiet things to do in their rooms — books, their favorite toys, an audio book of some kind (tonies, yoto etc) coloring (if they’re not old enough to be trust with art supplies do the no show art books! Or sticker books) - I start with 15 minutes on a visual timer and move up (we do a full hour now sometimes longer bc they’ll just keep playing) - I stay consistent (same time of day, every m-f) - I hold the boundary (this is one of the most important parts) they know how to push a boundary and can see when you start to waiver. Don’t waiver. Hold that boundary. - explain to them why it’s important for quiet time. Allow them to ask why questions. - have something to look forward to after quiet time is done. We always do tea time and stories, baking together , a science experiment, a walk, etc. - - If you do quiet time what advice do you recommend??
