She did, in fact, not skip her nap that day. I carried her the rest of the way down the mountain, and she was out cold for two hours.đ€đ€ But what did happen was something deeperâsomething that has shaped her in the years since I captured this video. I knew sheâd bonk that day. But I also knew that supporting her as she voiced her autonomy with such conviction was essentialânot just in cultivating her love for skiing, but in helping her develop awareness of her body and mind. Learning to tune into her needsâphysically and emotionally⊠her boundaries, her joy, her limits, and feeling confident in voicing them begins with me. Even at three. Especially at three. Now, nearly three years later, I look back at this and see how far along she already wasâand how much sheâs grown since. Today, at 5.5, sheâs deeply attuned to herself and expressing her needs in a way Iâm still learning to be in my 40s. Watching her do it is healing for me. And I believe it was moments like thisâwhen my husband and I listened, explored alongside her, and allowed her the autonomy she deserves as a mindful humanâthat helped her get here. We are born with an ability to tune in. I believe that wholeheartedly. As a mama, I just hope to keep nurturing it along the way. @roarsome @BigSkyResort @ikonpass
