Repost from @themiraclepatient • Exactly 9 years ago today, the decisions of another person— a wrong-way drunk driver—almost took my life. Every year on this day, November 9, 2014, instead of looking it as the worst day of my life, I celebrate it as another year of life. It is not just my crash anniversary, but also what I call my Lifeversary. God gave me a second and third and fourth chance at life, and as Noah in the “Notebook” said, “Life is a gift and I don’t intend on wasting it.” So I hope this video— whether you’ve watched it already or not— inspires, and reminds, you to “keep going, keep showing up, keep growing, keep persevering, and to NEVER give up.” I stand in gratitude today for how far I’ve come. I honestly don’t know if I ever really knew how far that would be and I don’t intend on stopping now. No, I am not “normal” and everything is not perfectly fine now. I choose to be fine, however; I still live with the devastating consequences of this person’s decisions, neurological deficits, chronic pain, more medical bills than I’ll ever be able to pay, lost time and many lost dreams. BUT, I see God restoring my life piece my piece and every surgery is seemingly putting this Humpty Dumpty back together again. Thank you to everyone who acknowledged today, and has stood by my side through thick and thin, tears and much laughter, and who has spoken life to me in the desolate places of uncertainty when I needed it most. Your love and prayers have literally changed my life. Thank you to my surgeons, you are my heroes and I’m so grateful for you.
