Method to the madness! I get so many comments thinking I’m just playing a game of chance and rolling the dice, “you’re playing Russian roulette with your life” people say on a daily basis. That couldn’t farther from the truth and I actually don’t do anything I’m not comfortable with and leave nothing to chance. Just because YOU don’t understand something and wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean anything to how others operate. When I see someone doing some crazy rock climbing that I wouldn’t do, I don’t think that person is an idiot that doesn’t value their life, I think “wow that’s a person with knowledge and skills I don’t have, who is living their passion and life to the fullest”. Life has shown me that most people haven’t been taught this perspective, and there’s also a large fraction that are just plain stupid, and ya can’t fix stupid! 😂 But for those who haven’t been taught this perspective and would like to expand their horizons, this post is your starting block! But back to my gator work; there is of course inherent risk and accidents can happen, but again I really don’t take chances, anyone who actually knows me and my work personally knows how careful and methodical I am in my work. I don’t roll the dice. Risk is never eliminated, I never claim it is and I am the first to speak about how dangerous my work can be if mistakes are made. I also don’t often engage in high risk situations, at least by my standards. My standards are not yours. This isn’t to brag, but often times my normal chill day with gators would be the most dangerous day of a regular person’s life. This is largely because of their lack of experience & understanding. ALSO keep in mind I spent my 20s as a professional alligator wrestler, literally putting my head in the jaws of gators for tip money; practically everything I do now is quite tame comparatively. ~~~Our rescue gators are wild caught nuisance gators that would’ve otherwise been destroyed. The state of Florida destroys 8,000 “nuisance” gators annually, but we don’t have a nuisance gators problem but rather a nuisance HUMAN problem. 1k people a day move to FL, unsustainably developing the land, and a lot of ignorant people making a nuisance out of themselves. NEVER feed a wild gator, never have kids or pets near the water, and never swim in gator habitat! And of course, never attempt anything you see in my videos! If you would like to donate to the care of the sanctuary animals, we greatly appreciate any support!!
