It’s helpful to figure out WHY they “don’t wanna” and tailor your anticipatory strategies and dopamine to that why. Otherwise, you’re just arbitrarily throwing out what you think is dopamine but is just wasting your time and energy. 📚transitions from preferred to non-preferred are HARD? 📚 some element of it feel hard or make them feel “dumb”? Do they need supports like topic sentences being started for them? Do they need a prerequisite skill taught to them first? 📚 task initiation (don’t know HOW to start this writing assignment or HOW to answer this question)? 📚 do they need a BREAK? 📚 does it feel too boring? Are they needing some novelty? 📚 do they need excess energy OUT of their body? 📚 do they need some level of control over the task, their day, the content? 📚 are they feeling disconnected? Again, credit for this conference getting off the ground goes to @Erica Johns: How to Homeschool! See her page for more information 🙂 If you want the packet, it’s in my bio! There are so many helpful, informative, incredible workshops I’ve seen, and I’ll make a video on that at some point. I hope this video helps someone out there.
