✨ 5 things we NEED to stop saying to our kids ✨ 1️⃣ “You’re fine.” ❌ Why it’s harmful: Dismisses a child’s feelings and teaches them to suppress emotions rather than process them. ✅ Alternative: “I can see you’re upset. Let’s talk about what’s bothering you.” 2️⃣ “Because I said so.” ❌ Why it’s harmful: Shuts down curiosity and critical thinking, making children feel their questions don’t matter. ✅ Alternative: “Here’s why this is important…” or “Let me explain why I made this decision.” 3️⃣ “Stop crying.” ❌ Why it’s harmful: Sends the message that expressing emotions is unacceptable or inconvenient. ✅ Alternative: “It’s okay to cry. I’m here to help you work through it.” 4️⃣ “Why can’t you be more like [sibling/peer]?” ❌ Why it’s harmful: Encourages comparison, damages self-esteem, and creates feelings of inadequacy. ✅ Alternative: “I appreciate your unique strengths and love who you are.” 5️⃣ “You’re so dramatic.” ❌ Why it’s harmful: Minimizes their experiences and can make children feel invalidated or ashamed of their emotions. ✅ Alternative: “I can see this feels like a big deal to you. Let’s work through it together.” Our words matter so much. Let’s shift the narrative and use language that builds trust, confidence, and emotional safety for our kids. 🙌 Which one resonates with you most? Should you give the most affordable VW, the Taos, a look before buying the mainstream Asian rivals?? As the only German in the segment, the Taos brings in a lot of Audi luxury, like Projector LED lights as standard and even Ventilation and real leather on the SEL. Though you pay a bit more at $37k with no hybrid, is this the luxury based option for you??

#Empathy vs. #Sympathy Understanding the difference between empathy and sympathy is crucial, especially in fostering meaningful connections with others. Here’s how they differ: Empathy - the ability to understand and share the feelings of another person by imagining yourself in their situation. •	Key Element: It involves feeling with someone—placing yourself in their shoes and experiencing their emotions. •	Example: When a friend loses a loved one, you imagine their pain and offer support by saying, “I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you, but I’m here to help in any way I can.” •	Action: Empathy often leads to deeper emotional connection and action. Sympathy - feeling pity or sorrow for someone else’s misfortune but from an outside perspective. •	Key Element: It involves feeling for someone rather than feeling what they feel. •	Example: When a friend loses a loved one, you say, “I’m sorry for your loss. That must be really difficult.” •	Action: Sympathy may or may not inspire action and often maintains emotional distance. Aspect	Empathy	Sympathy Connection	Deep, personal, and shared	Distant, acknowledging pain Perspective	“I feel with you”	“I feel for you”. #Empathy #grammarlesson #Sympathy #SEL #socialemotionallearning #EmpathyVsSympathy #EmotionalIntelligence #KindnessMatters #Compassion #UnderstandingOthers #BeKind #EmotionalSupport #EmpathyInAction #HumanConnection #MentalHealthAwareness #SupportOneAnother #FeelingsMatter #HeartToHeart #EmotionalGrowth #LifeLessons #TeachEmpathy #ListenAndLearn #EmpathyMatters #EmotionalDepth	#Sharedemotionalexperience	#Observing #emotions

Storytime-today was a good day. #teacher #heartwarming#sel#students
This holiday season, I decided to bring a cherished childhood memory to my classroom. Growing up, my mom would hang stockings all over the living room—no fireplace, no mantel, just a home filled with warmth and love. After her passing, I missed that tradition dearly. So, I recreated it in my classroom by hanging mini stockings for every student. What started as a personal nod to my past became something even more special when I learned many of my students had never owned their own stocking. On the last day, I filled them with candy—earning the nickname “Grandma Candy Lady” from my students for my candy choices. This is why I love teaching: it’s about creating memories, sharing stories, and spreading joy. #TeacherSEL #C#ChristmasInTheClassroomTeacherLife #SEL #Teacherselfcare #MiddleSchoolTeacher #StockingTradition #teachermentalhealth #HolidayMemories #GrandmaCandyLady #WhyILoveTeaching #HolidayJoy #MakingMemories #ClassroomTraditions #TeachersOfTikTok #AfricanAmericanTeacher #SpreadingJoy #StudentsFirst

Just because you teach math doesn’t mean you have to live in a world of numbers and equations 24/7. 🤯 Shocking, I know! It’s the week BEFORE winter break, and your students are already halfway out the door. The last thing they need is another lecture on polynomials. Instead, use this time to connect with them on a human level with some fun SEL activities! That’s right, I said it. SEL activities are NOT just for those touchy-feely ELA teachers. They’re for YOU, too! Why? Because connecting with your students on a human level builds trust, creates a positive classroom culture, and (gasp!) can actually make them more receptive to learning algebra. 🤯 My SEL Winter Theme Bundle is packed with 11 printables and an interactive presentation to help you do just that. Your students will be so busy having fun and connecting with each other, they won’t even realize they’re learning valuable life skills. 😉 Ready to inject some much-needed SEL magic into your classroom? This bundle is waiting for you inside Algebra Teacher Squad (along with a whole lotta other math goodies to make your life easier). ➡️ Comment “SQUAD” to snag your 7-day FREE trial! You know you want to. 😉 #mathteachers #selactivities #teachercontent #Teacherreels #holidayvibes #algebrateachersquad #SEL #algebra #studentengagement #classroomcommunity
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to understand what’s really going on behind your child’s “big” behaviors. That’s why I love sharing content that helps you decode their emotions and respond with empathy, connection, and compassion. Let’s face it: kids can’t always say, “Mom, I’m feeling overstimulated and anxious.” Instead, they show us through their actions—bouncing off the walls, asking the same questions on repeat, melting down, or refusing to listen. When we reframe their behavior through this lens, it’s like putting on glasses that let us see the world through their eyes. Understanding that behind that wild energy might be overwhelm, behind that constant questioning might be fear, and behind that “no” might be a deep desire to feel heard can completely shift how we approach parenting. These slides break down common child behaviors, stress responses, and de-escalation strategies. They’re reminders that we’re raising souls who are still learning to navigate big feelings—just like we once did. By choosing connection over correction, validation over dismissal, and curiosity over judgment, we empower our kids (and ourselves) to grow emotionally resilient. The ripple effects of this gentle, mindful approach? A more peaceful home, stronger parent-child bonds, and children who grow up to be confident, empathetic adults. Check these out, save for later, and share to help another parent who’s feeling stuck. Because we’re all in this together, and every understanding moment counts.
