So much sadness in her eyes 🙏💔 We want you to meet one of our shelter’s oldest dog, Hershey ❤️ This 8-year-old lady is very calm, gentle and devoted to people. Sadly, she ended up at the county facility as a stray, and because of her age and signs of arthritis in her hindlimbs, she was transferred over to our shelter 🥺 Hershey’s past is a mystery, but we can say that she is an affectionate girl who likes to sit or lay close to you ❤️ She is friendly, likes to be pet, knows sit, walks well on a leash and gets along with other dogs. Hershey needs TLC and to feel safe so she can bloom in her golden years. Her adopter will need to be careful to avoid her getting overweight and putting excess strain on her joint. We recommend keeping her on joint supplement to help keep her comfortable (we will supply the first month for free). My baby 🥺💔🐾 ps. it’s not recommended you drain hematoma’s yourself at home but we had to over the Holiday’s when the vet was closed & Rooney was extremely uncomfortable. We also tried leaving it alone for weeks at a time & not draining it but his ear would get so heavy filled w/ 🩸that it would drag his whole head down. We take him back Mon. to get tubes out & then he has 2 appointments after that to get his stitches removed. (‼️the last slide is a video of the 🦷‼️) First, I want to say THANK YOU so much for all the support, love and prayers for Noah. 🥹 I share these tough moments in case others go through similar situations and know what to expect. If you missed it, on 1/11/25, Noah woke up with the right side of his face swollen. After going to the ER, they tentatively determined it was a tooth abscess. Noah’s follow up appointment with his vet, Dr. Shepherd, confirmed it. Yesterday, Noah’s tooth was extracted. 😖 .. Basically, from the side of the tooth, you could not tell it was infected. You could only see that it was fractured/cracked at the surface level. Once a dental X-Ray was completed, you could see the tooth was infected at the root. It was attached to three roots, 2 in the front and one in the back. It was a significant extraction with slicing each root individually, which is what you see in the video. Once removed, the gum was cut and flapped over the bone, securing it with sutures that will dissolve in about 3-4 weeks. Dr. Shepherd repeated an X-ray to make sure the bone received no damage. 🥳. .. Noah came home and whined and panted as expected from the anesthesia. He ate his dinner last night, breakfast this morning, pooped and peed. He slept through most of the night and continues to sleep. His legs are still a little wobbly but should return to normal soon. 🥹 I’m so happy our boy is home and will be back to normal in no time. .. What caused this crack on his tooth? We have no idea. I’m mad at myself because this could have been prevented. I didn’t take Noah for a dental all last year! 😞 My intent was to give him a non-anesthesia cleaning and never scheduled it. This is all my fault. Noah should have never been in this situation. But, again, I’m sharing this so others can learn from it. Don’t beat me up, as I’ve already done and will continue to do so.
