Just be there with them as they explore their new world. Newborns respond to how we respond to them. Short naps are the WORST! 😩 The crap nap stage can be so frustrating. You’re second guessing if baby got enough rest AND when they should take their next nap… Here are some tips for short naps: ⏰ Give baby some time: Give them 15-30 minutes to see if they’ll fall back asleep on their own. If they are awake and happy, you can totally let them hang out in their crib for a little. 😴 Help them continue the nap: If baby isn’t going back to sleep on their own, see if some intervention helps. This might be the case if baby hasn’t learned independent sleep initiation quite yet. You can finish out with a contact nap or you can attempt to transfer again. If 15 minutes pass and they don’t go back to sleep, you can end the nap there. 🎉 Show them when naptime is supposed to end: Our goal is for naps to be 1-3 hours…When nap time is over or when they wake back up, open the curtains and start their awake time happy and excited. Over time, this will show that nap time was meant to last a little longer. ✂️ Split the difference to determine the time for their next nap: “Splitting the difference” is a technique you can use if baby takes a too-short nap. You’ll split the time you let them hang out in the crib awake. So, if baby takes a 30 minute nap and you let them hang out for another 30 minutes (and they don’t go back to sleep), then split that time they were awake in bake. Count half toward nap, half toward your next wake window. This helps your schedule not get too far off track and helps prevent too much overtiredness from building up Did you know we have a FREE naps guide?? ✨ Access free sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #naptime #shortnaps #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper

💡 Did you know? You can teach your baby independent sleep skills AND enjoy contact naps at the same time! Here’s the scoop on contact naps: ✨ Newborn snuggles are pure magic! You can’t spoil a newborn, so soak up all the cuddles while helping them get solid naps to prevent overtiredness. It’s the perfect way to lay the groundwork for future independent sleep. ✨ Independent sleep doesn’t mean no contact naps! If your baby has learned to sleep on their own, the occasional contact nap won’t undo their skills. Just keep in mind, if contact naps become the norm, a habit will likely form and it will be harder to get your baby to sleep independently. ✨ It’s about what works for your family. ❤️ 💛 Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #contactnap #contactnaps #newmomlife #babysleepcoach #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper
Rolling milestones ahead! 🚀 Here’s what to watch for: ✨ Lifting head and shoulders during tummy time for longer stretches ✨ Kicking legs up and to the side ✨ Arching their back ✨ Craning their neck to look over their shoulder Every baby is unique—rolling from tummy to back might come first, or they might surprise you! 💕 ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #tummytime #rollingover #developmentalmilestones #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #babysleepconsultant #thepeacefulsleeper
We know that our little ones benefit from routines. Just like adults, children feel safe and secure when they know what is going to happen next and they can count on consistency. Babies also benefit from routines! (🚨 Remember, a routine is different from a schedule! A routine is a series of steps that are consistently completed, like in a bedtime routine, whereas a schedule often means events happening at a specific time, such as eating at 9am and napping at 9:30am.) You will notice that we often talk about following a predictable cycle with newborns as opposed to a consistent schedule, meaning a predicable routine with flexible timing. This is because, even with babies as young as newborns, following a routine in beneficial. In this study, they examined children’s participation in everyday routines over a 2-year period and the relationship of routines to children’s sleep duration. 177 families participated in the study, and parents were interviewed when their children were ages 4 and 6 years. They reported on their children’s everyday routines and perceived sleep duration. The results found that following the same general daily routines in early childhood has been associated with increased sleep duration! I’m curious if you have found this to be true for your babies and children? Do you tend to follow the same daily routines with your little ones, or do you find that going with the flow works best for your family? Surviving the newborn trenches? Let’s get you some longer nighttime stretches! 💤 Here are 3 tips to help: ✨ Focus on getting full feedings during the day. If your baby’s snacking all day, they might want to snack all night too. ✨ Orient day and night. Keep daytime bright and lively, but at night, aim for dark, quiet, and soothing vibes to help your baby know it’s bedtime. ✨ Fill that sensory tank! Don’t stress about “spoiling” a newborn—give them lots of playtime, snuggles, rocking, bouncing, swinging, tummy time, and a good, snug swaddle. If you’re baby’s gone through the 4 month sleep regression, you know it’s famous for a reason 😬 Just when you think you might have lucked out and your baby is going to skip right over the 4 month sleep regression, sleep suddenly starts falling apart. 😩 The best way through the 4 month sleep regression is to start working on independent sleep skills. Through sleep learning, you can work with your baby, in their zone of proximal development, to help them learn the skills they need to initiate sleep independently, lengthen their naps, and drop any unnecessary night wakings. 🙌 The 4-24 Month Course walks you through the whole process, outlines all 4 of our approaches, AND teaches you how to tailor each approach to best fit your family! ✨Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #sleepregression #4monthsold #4monthsleepregression #babysleep #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper

Getting good, independent sleep and fostering a healthy, secure attachment are not at odds— they actually go hand in hand. Healthy attachment is cultivated through thousands of interactions with your children, and how you show up at those interactions is often dependent on your own well-being. ⬇️ When we’re well-rested, we can bring more joy, excitement, and love to each interaction. You can only be your best self for them when your cup is full! 🙌 When it comes to attachment and sleep learning, the key is tuning in and collaborating WITH your baby to determine the best approach. That’s what sets The Peaceful Sleeper apart…there’s no one-size-fits-all! In the 4-24 Months Course, you’ll learn 4 different approaches (from gradual to accelerated, and two paths in the middle) to help teach your baby independent sleep skills. The goal is to empower you with information and support so you can ALL get great sleep. ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #attachment #secureattachment #parenting #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper
1️⃣ Stay consistent. If your toddler is protesting their nap, think of it more as a “quiet time”. Stay consistent and offer the nap at the same time, in the same place. Have a simple naptime routine and even if they just quietly play, it is important for their little bodies to rest and reset. 2️⃣ Set boundaries. We all know you cannot MAKE a baby sleep, so instead, think of it as a division of responsibilities. You set the boundaries around time, length (one hour is usually best), and the sleep environment. Your toddler chooses whether or not they sleep. You can also give them other choices to make such as what pajamas to wear, what stuffies to bring to bed, etc. to help them feel empowered and in control. 3️⃣ Motivate! Naps are not worth the power struggle that can sometimes ensue, so instead, try and think of ways you can motivate your toddler to be more receptive to naps. Some examples are trading in playtime now for a trip to the park after the nap, using an “ok to wake” clock, or even a sticker chart. The biggest thing to remember is that sleep is not linear! Just like any type of progress, there will be ups and downs. Stay the course and remain calm- you got this! ⭐️ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #toddlersleep #toddlernaps #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper
⏰ Bedtime is too late Try bumping bedtime earlier by 30 min. Yes, it sounds crazy and counterintuitive, but remember, sleep begets sleep! 😴 Sleep Regression Stay consistent and power through. If your baby is content, let them hang in the crib until their normal wake-up time. You can also try feeding and putting them back to bed. It’s possible neither of these options will work, in which case you just have to ride it out. Remember, it will pass, and you are doing great! 🗓️ Scheduling Issue Sometimes it’s a scheduling issue, meaning your baby is getting too much or too little sleep. This can mean daytime sleep or nighttime sleep, or both. Try experimenting with their schedule and see if that helps! ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ What time does your baby wake in the morning, and how do you feel about it!? #earlymornings #newbornsleep #babysleeptips #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper
