POUR & PROCESS: Episode 1 ☕✨ Welcome to Pour & Process, where I spill the tea from my therapy session for you to sip on 🫶🏾 Y’all don’t know the real me on this app as much, so I’m trying to be more transparent. It’s the top of the year, and the internet is loud. Do this. Be first. Be the best. Tighten up. Dig deep. Ughhhh, as IF! 🙄 TBH, it’s all too much. As an anxious girl with a perfectionist streak I’m trying to shake, it’s been activating. This week, I brought it up in therapy (shoutout to my therapist, bka chief encouragement officer, who gets me and gently pushes me to dig deep). She offered a reframe that I’m still sitting with: Instead of motivation or determination, she suggested I focus on finding a rhythm. And listen- this is the quote that got me: “Discipline says do it all. Rhythm says do what matters.” She CHEWED. 🍽️ Rhythm is fluid. Rhythm adapts. Rhythm flows with you. Unlike rigid discipline, rhythm feels like a collaboration with your needs instead of a setup for failure. And for me, leaning into my soft power this year, that intentional shift matters. My therapist challenged me to identify two or three things I can do daily to feel grounded and help establish my rhythm. It’s not about piling on tasks or chasing motivation that comes and goes-it’s about staying connected to my purpose, even when motivation isn’t there. So, what about you, what’s 🫖? What’s something you’ve learned in therapy lately that’s helped you reframe or regroup? Or, if therapy isn’t your thing, what keeps you grounded? Let’s chat in the comments-I’d love to hear your thoughts.
