Not only is there the discussion for heavy snow in the southern states, but also the potential for freezing rain and sleet. In my opinion, I would say freezing rain and sleet is worse than the snow itself. Many areas in the south will receive ice due to the fact ground temperatures will be below freezing, but temperatures aloft will be warmer, because of that precipitation will freeze on contact with the ground, rather than falling as snow.
