Hey everyone, as most of you know my name is Tremane. I’m a husband, a father, and someone who’s just trying to do right by his family. My wife and I have a beautiful autistic daughter, and while parenting has its ups and downs, the love we have for her outweighs anything else. For the past few months, though, we’ve been dealing with something no parent wants to face—our daughter has been getting bullied on the school bus. Every day, she gets off that bus screaming, overwhelmed by the experience. We’ve done everything we can to inform the people in charge, from the school district to transportation, but nothing has changed. The only response we keep getting from the bus driver is, “Mykah, the grownups will handle it” – but they haven’t. At school, it’s a completely different story. My daughter has an incredible support group made up of teachers and staff who genuinely care for her well-being. They see her potential, love her energy, and pour so much into her daily. We’re so grateful for them and everything they do – the problem has never been the school itself. It’s just the bus ride to and from that’s been causing all of this stress. After months of trying to work through the proper channels, we’ve realized the only way to truly make a difference is to take matters into our own hands. We’re hoping to put a down payment on a second car so we can drive her ourselves and give her the peace she deserves this school year. I know we’re not the only family in America struggling right now. A lot of people are dealing with tough situations, and like many, we’re doing our best on just my income alone. But as a father, I can’t stand by and let this continue without at least trying everything I can to make life easier for my daughter. If you’ve read this far, thank you. Your support, in whatever form it comes, means more to us than you know.
