Onion dolma or is it onion sarma? Onions stuffed with delicious seasoned beef and rice. This is my new favorite type of dolma. The onions really add so much extra flavor and it’s actually not that difficult to make since the onions petals kinda roll themselves. . I’m sure this has a different name, what is it called? . 4 medium onions 1 lb ground beef or lamb 1/2 cup rice 2 Tb pepper paste 2 Tb tomato paste 2 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp all spice 1/4 cup chopped parsley 1/4 cup chopped mint 1/2 cup tomato sauce or puree 1 lemon juiced . Peel the outer layer of the onions. Cut a slice halfway through from tip to stem. Place it into salted boiling water for 10-12min. Remove and shock in ice water. Carefully peel each layer of the onion and set aside. In a bowl add beef, rice, pepper paste, tomato paste, salt, pepper, all spice, parsley and mint in a bowl and mix. Take a heaping tablespoon of the mixture and place it at the bottom of each onion petal and roll it tightly, continue until you are out of filling. In a large pan place all the dolma seam side down fitting snug. Top with a little olive oil, tomato sauce and a cup of water. (You want the water about halfway up the onions) bring to a simmer, cover and cook for about 45min or until the rice is fully cooked. . Hats @crownminded .
