Weekends are for the little things that make life big. While my youngest son is outside hustling—changing the oil, boiling crabs, fixing what’s broken, and cooking a Boston butt on his Traeger—my husband and I soak in the beauty of these simple moments. A fire crackles in the pit, the South Carolina cold bites the air, good music plays, and good friends gather. It’s not fancy, but it’s ours. Later on, my oldest son stopped by, some friends gathered, and a few of the grandkids joined in. I didn’t get to see my daughter Saturday , but I saw her yesterday when she came by. She even made a Walmart run to grab some of what we’ll need to cook for Christmas Eve, pitching in just like my sons do. It’s these moments of love and thoughtfulness that make life so meaningful. To my youngest son @Codyh89 : You’ll never know how much it means to me when you step in to fix the things we can’t or do the things we’re no longer able to do.
