Here is an EXAMPLE plan on how you can slowly transition your child from a primarily milk-based diet to a primarily solid-food diet between 6-12 months of age. Keep in mind, this approach and plan will vary from family to family and is to be used as a recommendation not an absolute. Always keep in mind the goal of responsive feeding – which means that you as the parent decide what to feed your baby and when, and your baby decides how much they will eat at each feeding. It is important to note that although you may offer meals, that does not mean your baby will eat every time – and that is OK! As long as you follow your baby’s lead and continue to offer solids, he or she will catch on. If you have any concerns about how much your child is eating, talk to your pediatrician. Save and share if this is helpful!
