To be clear, I am not a doctor. This is a trick my son’s pediatrician clued me into back in 2009 and I’ve made so many of these since then! If it helps you, awesome. If you think it’s dumb, scroll on because clearly this isn’t for you. I am really prone to thrush/fungal infections when I get sick or am on antibiotics. It is absolutely awful. Anyone who has had one, knows how miserable they are. Unfortunately, the kids get them too sometimes. I make these chapsticks as needed and they help my family so much! You will need: * Clotrimazole OR Miconazole suppositories. These MUST be wax based of hydrogenated oil based. You can find this information on the black and white “facts” panel under “other ingredients” or “inactive ingredients.” If it is not wax or oil based, it will not melt and incorporate into the chapstick. * 4-5 tubes of your favorite chapstick. Pick a firmer one and avoid chapsticks that are excessively soft. If you have the time and supplies, feel free to make your favorite homemade chapstick base recipe. * Bowl & pot to use as double boiler * Syringe or pipette 1. Melt the suppositories over the double boiler. 2. Fully extend the chapsticks and add to the melted suppositories. Stir until fully melted and incorporated. 3. Twist the chapstick bases all the way back down into the tube. 4. Use a pipette or syringe to slowly refill the tubes with the melted mixture until it slightly bubbles over the top. 5. Let cool and solidify for 1-2 hours.
