Tbh not as much as I expected! Hereโs a breakdown:
๐ต๐น Madeira, Portugal: $2,065.24 - I spent 8 days in Madeira splitting an Airbnb with 3 friends and exploring the island. I'm constantly amazed by how affordable Portugal is and how delicious the food is, so this is definitely a spot to add to your list if you're a budget traveler.
๐๏ธ Banff, Canada: $1,796.26 - I spent 4 full days hiking the Canadian Rockies in Banff, Canada and a bulk of this cost is related to the flights, which were ~$700 RT from NYC.
๐ฅพ Venice & Dolomites, Italy: $1,752.23 - Our hut-to-hut trek in the Dolomites only cost around $560 for three nights so the remainder of this cost comes from the hotel we stayed at in Cortina D'Ampezzo, which is a town in the Dolomites that we used as our home base for the beginning of our trip there.
๐ค Lake Como & Zurich: $2,012.75 - We spent 4 days in Lake Como and 2 traveling roundtrip to Zurich to see the Eras tour, so ~$600 of this was Taylor Swift tickets. We also double booked our Como & Zurich Airbnbs for the night because we didn't want to have to check out and check back in.
๐ถ Adirondacks, NY: $709.80 - I spent Memorial Day weekend exploring Lake Placid. Love outdoor adventure trips because the activities are almost completely free :)
๐ฟ Schweitzer, Idaho: $969.22 - I spent 4 days skiing in Schweitzer, Idaho with friends. This trip was so cheap because my accommodations were free (friends were renting a two-bedroom house there for the whole winter!) and I used the @ikonpass buddy pass which gives you 25% off your lift tickets. Plus, Schweitzer is a super affordable mountain to begin with and so are flights to Spokane, Washington!
TOTAL: $9,305.50 - I'm actually shocked at how low this is considering how much I traveled last year!
Let me know what you think! Note: This list doesn't include obligatory trips like weekend trips to attend weddings or to visit family, just the "fun" trips associated with my paid time off.
