One person is dead and two people are dead after a horrible explosion from a boiler and fire at the Tyson Food Warehouse in Georgia. At the time of the explosion a semi truck had been backed up to a dock, the husband was inside the warehouse doing the paperwork as his wife Bajarma Batozhapov age 61 was asleep inside the cab of the truck. When the explosion occurred a wall collapsed on top of the semi truck, killing Bajarma. Unfortunately it took the wrecker crews several hours to get the concrete wall removed from the semi truck so that they could safely extradite Bajarma. They were concerned that by removing the wall that it might cause the entire building to collapse. According to the Union which represents 1600 workers at the plant, they say that a boiler had exploded. Tyson says that it is working hand in hand with the local fire department to try and determine what caused the fire and explosion. A family has officially filed suit against the Florida Highway Patrol, almost year after an incident where they lost their truck driver. According to to the lawsuit the incident happened a year ago this week, where a Florida Highway State Patrol officer and a truck driver were both killed while in pursuit of a suspect. The trooper was Zachary Fink who was a three year veteran of FHP, and he was pursuing a suspect driving a white Kia. The suspect was driving in a reckless manner on I-95 right before 3 am on February 2, 2024. According to the FHP they say the suspect turned northbound into the southbound lanes. They say that Trooper Fink also turned that same way, but was going to warn motorists of the suspect vehicle, but tragically he turned directly into the path of a semi tractor trailer which wound up striking the drivers side of patrol unit. The truck driver Arsenio Mas was also killed in this tragedy and he was the father of three children. The lawsuit that was filed this week says Mas was operating a commercial truck in the inside lane closest to the median and was en route to deliver cargo as part of his employment. At or about the same time the suit states that Fink was driving southbound on I-95 in St Lucie, FL pursing the suspect Michael Addison. The suit goes onto say that Fink was recklessly and negligently driving upwards of 120 mph in pursuit of the suspect Addison. The suit also says that Fink disregarded all policies and procedures of the FHP and disregarded the safety of himself, and others including the truck driver Mas. In the lawsuit here all the allegations being thrown at both Trooper Fink and the FHP. Operated the FHP vehicle at an excessively high rate of speed Cut across several lanes of traffic without warning and at an excessively high rate of speed Failed to consider how his reckless pursuit of a fleeing vehicle could endanger the lives of the motoring public Continued his pursuit of the fleeing vehicle even after the fleeing vehicle cut across all southbound lanes of traffic and attempted a U-turn onto the northbound highway Disregarded FHP’’ policies and procedures for pursuing fleeing vehicles Failed to avoid crashing into the plaintiff’s truck Failed to keep a proper lookout for vehicles, including the plaintiff’s truck Failed to follow safe and reasonable procedures and protocols for operating a vehicle in the State of Florida Was otherwise negligent and/or reckless for allowing his unreasonable pursuit of the fleeing vehicle to jeopardize the safety of the motoring public So let’s also talk about the suspect in this case, since the chase of him was what started this whole situation to begin with. His name is Michael Addison and he is from Broward County Florida, he is now facing charges in the deaths of State Trooper Fink and also the truck driver MAs. At the time of this accident he actually had two active warrants for his arrest for aggravated battery and weapons charges. Addison who is 30 years old led the police chase on I-95 that lead to the deaths of Fink and MAs. Court records show that Addison had his probation revoked in May 2022 after police said he choked out his ex-girlfriend in December 2021 and failed to then pay fees related to this incident. The State Attorney’s Office says they were unable to go forward with domestic abuse charges in this case after the victim declined to press charges, and they did not have enough independent evidence to precede further. Police say another case againest Addison was when he became aggressive and punched a woman in the face with his closed fist. Then Addison dragged her outside of his hotel room by her bra in February 2020. We have a sad sad story out of Michigan. Where Michigan State Police are saying that their was a major backup of traffic and a semi truck did not slow for traffic. Four people and sadly died and multiple people have been injured in this incident. This all took place on Sat around noon on Michigan 52 highway. It appears that several vehicles were stopped on the expressway due to power lines being worked on. According to Police a semi truck was westbound on the expressway when he came up to the stopped traffic. The driver said he did not see the backed up traffic and when he finally did he was not able to stop in time to avoid collision. A total of 17 people in vehichles were involved in the crash and were taken to local hospital in Lansing, Michigan. The semi truck driver was also injured and taken to University of Michigan Hospital, the drivers name and age has not been released. On Thursday afternoon a Police chase between a semi truck and police finally needed near Beaver, Utah. This all took place around 3:30 pm where police had received a 911 call about a semi truck who was driving recklessly on I-70 near MM 67. Police also received a call from a man who called the Police said he was traveling on I-70, and said “he was going to die” and rambled about how “it never worked out” and “that he would not hurt anyone”. Then less than 30 minutes later a FedEx semi truck driver called 911. The FedEx driver was driving westbound, he said a truck driver in a white semi truck had been harassing him on the highway. Nearly crashing into his own semi truck on several occasions, and trying to cut him off and push him off the Interstate. Next a USPS driver called 911 also reporting that this same white semi truck was driving erractically, he also tried to cut this semi truck off. When police finally located this semi truck the deputy pursuing him attempted to pull him over on WB I-70. But the semi truck driver refused to pull over and continued to drive recklessly. A short time later the police felt they had no other choice, and deployed stop sticks to try and disable the semi truck. The semi truck wound up hitting the spike strips and still continued on. The semi truck got down to his rims and still continued driving I-70. The entire time he was driving he was producing a huge plume of smoke. After a few more minutes and the smoke becoming more intense, the truck driver finally pulled over. Police immediately put the driver under arrest without any issues. Soon after his arrest the entire semi truck became engulfed in flames. The truck driver has been identified as 42 year old Sonny Garrett. Police have said that during the police pursuit that Garrett had called into 911 dispatch demanding to speak to the trooper who was following him. Garrett also reportedly told dispatch that he did want to be told what to do, but that he also did not want to be shot. Police also say now that they had actually deployed three spike strips to try and stop him, and that he hit all three of them and still kept driving on. Police also say that when Garrett finally pulled over, he refused to get out of the semi truck until he could not stand the heat from the flames any further. When he finally exited the semi truck. Police say he was sweating profusely even though it was 32 degrees outside. He could not sit still, he was jumpy and talking and acting irrationally. When inside of the patrol until his irrational behavior continued. Even licking the inside of the patrol units windows, and then saying one minute he was hot and the next he was cold. When they finally arrived at the jail he needed help walking, sitting and drinking water due to his extreme lack of coordination. This morning in Memphis TN a man at a Krogers Distribution warehouse center was brutally stabbed and died from his injuries. This all occurred this morning just before 9 am after police received a call about someone being wounded at the distribution center. When they arrived they found a man deceased from stab wounds. A Krogers spokesperson has confirmed to the media that the man in question was an associate with Krogers. Police have said that they do have one person in custody right now in connection with the stabbing death. But so far no further information has been released at this time. I love to highlight truck drivers who are the unsung heroes in our industry, and today we are going to do doing just that. Timothy VanNostrand age 64 is an owner/operator of his own logging transport company located in Northville, New York. On June 2023 he never would of believed that he would become a hero jumping into action to help save a Police officer. So on that day VanNostrand was passing a New York State trooper who was making a routine traffic stop, that suddenly turned into a shootout. VanNostrand said “I wasn’t 100% sure what I saw at first, but I saw the trooper kind of skip sideways a little bit” “And then I saw the shooter actually pull the gun in his car and start shooting right out through his own back window at the state trooper. A really intense shootout started, and bullets were flying.” That is when VanNostrand used his semi truck as shield to help block the suspect from firing bullets at the police officer. This entire ordeal went on for twelve minutes. VanNostrand said “It’s a long time when you’re standing there listening to it” VanNostrand said. When backup finally arrived on scene, they found that the initial state trooper had been wounded was later taken to the hospital and he did survive. VanNostrand was later honored by the New York State Police and by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as their “Highway Hero”. Timothy VanNostrand age 64 is an owner/operator of his own logging transport company located in Northville, New York. On June 2023 he never would of believed that he would become a hero jumping into action to help save a Police officer. So on that day VanNostrand was passing a New York State trooper who was making a routine traffic stop, that suddenly turned into a shootout. VanNostrand said “I wasn’t 100% sure what I saw at first, but I saw the trooper kind of skip sideways a little bit” “And then I saw the shooter actually pull the gun in his car and start shooting right out through his own back window at the state trooper. A really intense shootout started, and bullets were flying.” That is when VanNostrand used his semi truck as shield to help block the suspect from firing bullets at the police officer. This entire ordeal went on for twelve minutes. VanNostrand said “It’s a long time when you’re standing there listening to it” VanNostrand said. When backup finally arrived on scene, they found that the initial state trooper had been wounded was later taken to the hospital and he did survive. VanNostrand was later honored by the New York State Police and by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as their “Highway Hero”. Truck Driver charged with Murder, after a New Years Eve bar fight A California truck driver with the weirdest name I have ever heard, had been charged with murder and other crimes from a New Year’s Eve stabbing at a bar. The Truck driver whose legal first name is No Name Given and his last name is Happy from San Diego was charged on Tuesday. Happy has been charged with two counts of second degree murder, second degree assault with a dangerous weapon and threats of violence. This all took place right before midnight on New Year’s Eve At the Phat Pheasant Pub. According to the police Benjamin Matter age 30 was rushed to the hospital but died from his injuries. And a 31 year old man was also injured in this stabbing. Police say that found a knife inside of a sheath located inside Happy’s semi truck which was parked at the scene. Police wound up speaking to patrons of the bar who said that Happy was playing pool with a group of people right before the stabbing. One of the employees said that Happy was making the other patrons mad by being mouthy, and pushing them around. Then they say that Happy made threats and then pulled out a gun, directing his anger towards Benjamin Matter. The employee said she warned Happy that he cannot talk like that, as it was considered a threat to both staff and customers. One of the bartenders wound up having to escort him outside of the bar. At this point Happy walked out to his semi truck, and a few minutes later returned brandishing a knife with a 6-8 inch blade. Witnesses said at this point they began to call 911 for help. According to to witnesses Benjamin saw Happy trying to re-enter the bar with the knife, and he tried to intervene by blocking Happy from entering the bar. It was at that point that Happy made a couple of stabbing motions directed at Benjamin and another friend who was also stabbed. A friend of Benjamin saw what was going on and wound up kicking the knife out Happy’s hands, and kicking happy to the ground. A woman who was trying to leave the bar, due to all the chaos happening said Happy assaulted her. She said he grabbed her and said” I am going to F—cking kill you” It was at that point that patrons wound up tackling Happy and keeping him on the ground until Police arrived. Got a really sad news story out of Philadelphia Pennsylvania that happened on New Years Eve. It was a sad accident involving a sedan and semi truck trailer that ended fatality. So the accident happened around 10:45 pm on New Years Eve, a 32 year old pregnant Uber driver wound up somehow crashing her sedan into a parked semi truck’s trailer. I have gotten a lot of slack in the past for doing stories on Tow truck drivers, with a lot of truckers saying they are not real truck drivers. Maybe NOT, however those tow truck drivers risk their lives on a daily basis to tow vehichles and semi trucks and we lose to many of them each and every year to people not moving over to the left hand lane. The story I have this morning is a man hitting and killing a tow truck driver on Christmas Eve, and then leaving the scene of the accident. Prosecutors have said that a man named Christopher Sponholz wound up hitting and killing tow truck driver Hussain Farhat on Interstate 94 in Wisconsin on Christmas Eve. According to the courts records, Christopher age 39 told his friends and family members that he had been in a accident on Christmas Eve, but he had thought he had hit a deer. Now witnesses on the scene of the accident say that Christopher was driving around 80 mph at the time of the accident. Now it seems that not only was Christopher driving recklessly at 80 mph but the tow truck was on the side of the road with all of his flashing lights on, clearly visible at nighttime. It appears that Farhat had stopped to assist another motorist who was having car problems, he had turned on all of his emergency lights and gotten out to assist the driver. That is when Christopher came up and witnesses say he was driving fast and also on fog line and was not in his proper lane of travel when he wound up hitting the tow truck. Then Christopher simply left the scene of the accident. Now when media started to share the news story about what had happened they mentioned that the driver was driving a blue mini van. And Christophers families and friends who had been told he had hit a deer, started to put two and two together and began to call the police to report him. Police went to Christopher’s house and he was not home but they spoke to his sister who told police quote “Chris hit that guy last night I know it”. Christopher was officially charged on Thursday with deadly hit and run and he wound up turning himself in with the help of his attorney. His bond is currently set at $750,000 even those his defense counsel tried to get only a $7,500 bond. In San Antonio Texas on Monday afternoon along I-35 Northbound a man is suspected of a road rage incident. This all took place near Thousand Oaks drive where a simple accident turned into a road rage incident between a passenger vehichle and a semi truck driver. According to police they say a man driving a semi truck and another man driving a sedan named Jose Israel Terran age 21 were involved in a road rage situation. Seems that the sedan was trying to get into the lane of the semi truck when he was hit by the semi truck. That is when Teran pulled out a gun and shot at he driver inside of the semi truck. A 65 year old man was run over by a semi truck when he was trying to help the semi truck navigate through a snowy gas station parking lot. As the man whose name was Rudolph Martinez was trying to help the semi truck, the semi truck accidentally backed over him. Martinez from Dodge City Kansas died on the scene of the accident. The semi truck driver a 44 year old male was not injured in this sad accident. We are also learning that Martinez was also a fellow semi truck driver. Two people crushed when semi truck lands on top of them On a California Freeway on January 2nd, two people had to be rescued from a crash involving a semi truck and a pickup truck. According to CHP this all took place on January 2nd around 1:50 pm on northbound 710 Freeway near Long Beach California. The initial cause of the crash is still unknown right now. When Fire department arrived on the scene, they found a semi truck and trailer on the roof of a pickup truck. Thus trapping two people inside of that pickup truck. Firefighters were able to rescue one of the occupants pretty easily, but had to call out a heavy duty wrecker to rescue the second occupant. Four people and sadly died and multiple people have been injured in this incident. This all took place on Sat around noon on Michigan 52 highway. It appears that several vehicles were stopped on the expressway due to power lines being worked on. According to Police a semi truck was westbound on the expressway when he came up to the stopped traffic.
