COLOR CORRECTIONS – TRUST THE PROCESS Color corrections aren’t a one-and-done deal. When you take hair from one extreme to another (like red to brunette), the cuticle is left more porous, meaning oxidation happens faster. My client knew warmth would come through, and we planned to re-tone once she got her extensions. But here’s where things went sideways—she went to a blowout salon and asked them to use blue shampoo to cut some of the warmth. Instead of a quick wash, they left it on way too long, and when she came to me, her hair was green. Now, blue shampoo alone shouldn’t have caused that. In my experience, something else had to be involved—either a weird toner or a reaction with whatever they used. We may never know exactly what happened, but her hair turning that level of green made no sense just from the shampoo. I did a mini two-hour fix to get her hair looking normal again—not perfect, but good enough for her Super Bowl party. This is exactly why color corrections require patience and trust. There will be phases you don’t love, but if you try to fix things yourself or let another salon step in, you could end up with unexpected disasters. Trust your stylist, follow the plan, and know that good hair takes time!
