My first partner’s, K9 Scout, final moment’s. Scout served as a dual purpose Police K9 collectively for 9 years. Scout was my first dog and changed my life forever. As a brand new handler, Scout was an experienced dog but he didn’t come without some baggage. And to be honest, he scared the shit out of me. I learned so much from him in a short amount of time and we grew together to become one hell of a team, and I became the handler/trainer I am today. Scout truly loved what he did and I was happy to be along for the ride. Scout lived his retirement at home, never turning off his desire to work. Recently, he started to slow down and I knew something was wrong. Scout was now 14 years old, he was diagnosed with lung cancer in a very advanced stage, about a week ago. He unfortuneately declined very rapidly. I wanted Scout to go out doing what he loved. He fought to the very end and I wouldn’t want it any other way. After seeing this idea from @Rush K9, I knew this was the way. Thank you for keeping me and so many other officers safe Scout. Until I see you again. I love you buddy. We will take it from here. Thank you to @ProjectK9Hero.Org for providing care to Scout in his final years, as their 192nd member (first in Kansas). K-9 Scout EOW 01/20/2025
