I’m sure you’ve all seen that today, the National Parks Service removed all references to trans people at the Stonewall Memorial (and its website). This is a gross revision of history and it speaks to the MAGAt desire to eradicate trans folks from existence. But…. they can’t revise the facts. No matter how hard they try. One of the things we can all do in the name of resistances to choose where to spend our dollars. So, that in mind, here are a few reminders: There’s a national no spend day on February 28. Plan ahead so that you don’t have to spend a dime on February 28. Buy from your favorite LGBTQ+ businesses, BIPOC businesses, &/or women owned businesses (as long as they’re not MAGAts). Support trans girls in Girl Scouts. Buy your cookies from the “shops to buy from” list linked in my bio. If you own a community based business, or you have a link to a business that you like to support, drop their contact info in the comments. The opposition loves their money… Let’s hit them where it hurts. The world is shifting quickly in the midst of this coup. I think most trans people, & some good cis allies, are dealing with abject horror and fear. The assaults on trans people, education, the treasury, etc is only the start. There will be more… But you can do something! Here: FOR THOSE OF YOU LOOKING TO TURN YOUR ANGER INTO ACTION, here's some advice from a high-level staffer for a Senator. There are two things that we should be doing all the time right now. You should NOT be bothering with online petitions or emailing. 1) The best thing you can do to be heard and get your congressperson to pay attention is to have face-to-face time — if they have town halls, go to them. Go to their local offices. If you're in DC, try to find a way to go to an event of theirs. Go to the "mobile offices" that their staff hold periodically (all these times are located on each congressperson's website). When you go, ask questions. A lot of them. And push for answers. The louder and more vocal and present you can be at those the better. 2) But those in-person events don't happen every day. So, the absolute most important thing that people should be doing every day is calling. YOU SHOULD MAKE 6 CALLS A DAY: 2 each (DC office and your local office) to your 2 Senators & your 1 Representative.
