My final forage of 2024 brought me to this gorgeous little waterfall in the middle of a forest. No paths nor hiking trails lead to this spot, just the little clusters of mushrooms that held my hand as we walked together through the snow-dappled undergrowth, slowly shambling over logs and passing gently through thickets of Oregon grape and mossy stones. The cascading water quietly made its presence known as stepped unknowingly closer. Soon, I heard the stream falling upon rocks, but it would be another half hour before I finally saw it for myslef, softly settled in a ravine, protected by the old giants standing around it. #winterforaging #mushroomforaging #waterfall #oldgrowthforest #pnwonderland #foragingtiktok #naturelovers
This is why you should be foraging Turkeytail Mushroom. So many uses. Very easy to harvest. I love that we can find this in winter, when there are not a lot if things to harvest. We harvest enough for the entire year! #turkeytail #mushrooms #forage #herbalremedies #anticancer #winterforaging

How to identify a maple tree. There a a few other kinds of trees, like dogwoods and viburnums, that have opposite branching. They are much smaller than maple trees - almost never growing to what would be tapping size for maples - so I didn’t include them in this video. There are several kinds of ash and buckeye not shown in the video, but they have a similar appearance. #foraging #maplesyrup #winterforaging
Chickweed is one of my favorite edible plants and I wish I had more of it growing at my farm but I know I can come get this big patch of it at my friend's house all winter long! It's also awesome at stopping itching in a salve recipe. #foraging #wildfood #winterforaging #wildmedicine
