Who doesn’t love a good Revival story?!🐝✨🐝✨ Honeybees are pretty resilient creatures. Once the bees are relocated to our sanctuary in Pauma Valley, hive reestablishment begins! We keep a close eye on their behavior for the next couple of days to make sure that they are adapting well, and aren’t showing signs of swarming away. The Mothership 🛸 of Woodland, California! 😍 This rescue required a lot of thinking on our toes, but nothing we couldn’t manage! We were hoping to get footage from different vantage points, but we’re a bit distracted🐝🐝 . . When dealing with Africanized Honeybees, a lot of things can go wrong very quickly. One thing you can do to help keep things on track is tape your ankles, and wrists shut!😬

THE GUARD BEE 🐝 🐝🐝 This duty comes into play in the later stages of a worker bees life. These bees have now developed the necessary physical and behavioral traits for guard duties, one being the ability to produce alarm pheromones. The Vigilant Guard Bee must protect the hive from various threats, including Robber Bees 🐝These bees come from other colonies around the area, and are a major concern to smaller, weaker colonies. We had a blast at the San Diego Central Library last week rescuing some sweet, studious honeybees 😊🐝📚 This small hive was located on top of the Auditorium between broken glass, and a piece of plywood.
